The International Seminar "Quarks-2020" will take place from 7 to 14 June 2020 in the picturesque place near the ancient city Pereslavl-Zalessky, Russia, 2.5 hours of driving distance from Moscow. Accommodation of participants and conference meetings will be organized in the hotel AZIMUT-Pereslavl. We plan to reserve time to visit the historic town of Rostov with a guided tour around its Kremlin and monuments.
"Quarks-2020" is the 21st in the series of seminars taking place biennially since 1980 in various historical and cultural places of Russia. The previous seminar, "Quarks-2018", was held in Valday, its proceedings are now available in EPJ WoC.
This year the Seminar is co-organized by the Institute for Nuclear Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow), Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (Dubna) and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (Dolgoprudny).
Despite the Seminar's traditional name, the program of "Quarks-2020" is fairly broad. It includes plenary sessions, section meetings and informal discussions on:
- physics beyond the Standard Model;
- neutrino physics;
- quantum chromodynamics, strong interactions;
- heavy ion collisions;
- cosmology and astroparticle physics;
- gravity and its modifications;
- aspects of mathematical physics;
- selected experimental results.
In addition, this year we plan to organize several thematic sections on selected topics this year:
- New Physics at the Intensity Frontier
Conveners: Fedor Bezrukov (Manchester U), Dmitry Gorbunov (INR RAS, Moscow)
- Dark Matter
Conveners: Peter Tinyakov (Brussels U.), Igor Tkachev (INR RAS, Moscow)
- Theoretical Astroparticle Physics
Conveners: Grigory Rubtsov (INR RAS, Moscow), Dmitri Semikoz (APC, Paris), Sergey Troitsky (INR RAS, Moscow)
- Modification of Gravity: Theories and Observations
Conveners: Evgeny Babichev (LPT, Orsay), Valery Rubakov (INR RAS, Moscow)
- Integrability, Holography, Higher-Spin Gravity and Strings
Conveners: Mikhail Vasiliev (Lebedev Inst., Moscow), Ruslan Metsaev (Lebedev Inst., Moscow)
- Advanced Computing in Particle Physics
Conveners: Oleg Kalashev (INR RAS, Moscow), Alexander Nozik (MIPT, Dolgoprudny)
They will appear in the program in parallel with the ordinary broadly themed meetings. Speakers of these sections will be invited by the conveners.
We expect about 200 physicists to participate in the Seminar.
Generally, we will be unable to take care of travel and local expenses of the participants. However, we will apply for funds and hope to cover local expenses to a limited number of people. Besides, due to MIPT support this year we will not charge the full-time MIPT staff, its undergraduate and graduate students with organization fee. More information is available via e-mail.
